When you think of a Web Designer, you probably think of someone who specifically designs and builds websites, right?

Well, something that many people don’t realise is that a web designer solves much bigger problems than simply needing a new website.

In fact, a web designer can be a much bigger asset for your business if you understand all of the different problems they can solve for you.

Here are 10 BIG problems that web designers can solve for businesses (how many of these do you have?)

1. Customers can’t find you online

If you're not showing up when people search for your service/business online, this is costing you customers.

No matter how amazing your service is…nobody is going to hunt to find your business online. If you don’t show up, you essentially don’t exist.

So every time a potential customers searches for your service and you don’t show up, you’re missing valuable opportunities to stand out and earn their business.

How much could this be costing you each month?

2. Customers can’t understand how you’re different

If all you have is a Facebook page, how are you supposed to stand out and show people that you're different?

With so much business done online these days, it’s crucial that you confidently showcase your differences. It’s how you build a loyal following and get people to pay attention to your message.

Telling people isn’t enough though - you need to show them.

When potential customers visit your online home, they should immediately sense that you’re not like the others, and that you do things differently (better!)

If that’s not happening, you could be losing customers without even realising.

3. Customers don’t trust you because of some bad reviews

Whilst this isn’t ‘web design’ specifically, this is a big problem that I can solve for my clients.

Let’s face it: Bad reviews can slow business dramatically.

Nothing makes or breaks your business like other people. And unfortunately, many small businesses make one small mistake and get dragged through the coals for ever and day because of it.

One of the ways I can help my clients who are struggling with a less-than-perfect Google rating is by implementing a strategy to drown out the negative reviews by bringing in a flood of new, positive reviews, fast.

4. Customers can’t book your services online

If people have to call to book your services, it creates friction.

If you don't answer the phone, or it’s outside of your business hours, they'll just go somewhere else that makes the process easier for them.

This can be easily fixed by using an online scheduling software such as Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, or Squarespace Scheduling.

By giving people a way to book directly online, 24/7, you will increase your bookings and your customer experience dramatically.

5. Your website looks bad on mobile

Did you know that over 50% of search traffic is on mobile?

If your website looks bad on mobile, customers aren't going to take you seriously and won't trust your quality of service, no matter how great you are.

A great web designer can redesign your site to look flawless across all devices. This is something I do for my clients, because it’s such a powerful way to increase sales without doing any extra advertising.

6. Your website is outdated

Many businesses have a basic website built in the early days, but as they grow and get busier, they keep putting off getting an updated, modern website.

People want modern solutions to their problems. And if your website is outdated, it sends the wrong message that YOU are outdated and irrelevant.

A web designer can take your brand - what makes you unique - and breathe new life into it with a sleek website that shows customers you’re up to date, and tells them that you still mean business.

7. Your website is hard to maintain

Instead of paying expensive retainers to keep a developer on hand to maintain your site, why not have your website built on a user-friendly platform that you can maintain yourself?

This is a big problem I solve for clients. I build websites on Squarespace (a very user-friendly platform) and train my clients to easily manage their sites and update their content themselves.

Moving your website to a platform like Squarespace can save you tens of thousands over the course of 3-5+ years.

8. Your competitors have better websites

If your competitors have better websites, it's pretty hard to stand out to new customers.

Even if you have great reviews, your website needs to outshine your competitors’ if you want more people to consider working with you.

Take a look at 3-5 of your closest competitors and rank your website against them, then be honest with yourself…who would you feel more inclined to choose?

9. You don’t look serious/credible enough

First impressions matter - especially for your customers!

If you don't have a website, or you have one that looks thrown together, is slow, and looks bad on mobile, it sends the wrong message (that you're not serious) and hurts your credibility.

This can all be solved with a modern website. And you don’t need the most technical, intricate website in order to look serious and credible.

You just need a clean, sophisticated site that’s easy to use, and showcases:

  • Your brand

  • Who you are & what you do

  • Why you’re different

  • Why people should trust you

10. You’re embarrassed to show your website to people

It’s a horrible feeling to have someone look at your site when you know it could be better.

If you're embarrassed to show your website to people, how do you think customers are feeling when they visit your site?

A good web designer will not only make you look great to customers, but they’ll also give you more confidence in yourself and your brand.
