How To Get More Email Subscribers From Your Squarespace Website
Email marketing is consistently ranked as the most profitable marketing strategy for businesses, with an average return of $36 for every $1 spent.
What does this mean for you?
This means that if you’re not turning your website traffic into email subscribers, you’re missing out on a massive opportunity to increase sales without spending more money on ads.
Why Is An Email List So Important?
As mentioned, email marketing can be hugely profitable for your business, and allows you to increase sales without increasing ad spending.
What’s more—it creates an opportunity to increase the LTV (lifetime value) of your clients, by making multiple offers across complementary products and services, as well as increasing client retention through email nurturing.
Here are 3 key reasons:
1. You control your own platform
One of the most valuable things about having your own email list is that you have full control over your own platform:
You choose the content that they see
You choose the offers that are put in front of them
You choose how frequently they hear from you
2. Increased reach compared to social media
Unlike social media (which only shows your content to about 10% of your audience), emails reach almost everybody that you send them to.
This means that if you have 1,000 followers on Instagram, and 1,000 email subscribers, almost all of your subscribers will receive your email, compared to only 100 people who might see your Instagram post.
This allows you to create a deeper and more engaged relationship with your subscribers, which really helps to develop that all-important know, like & trust factor.
3. Establish authority in your niche
Because of how much control you have over your email list and content, email is a fantastic way to establish serious authority in your niche.
With consistent, high-quality email content, your audience will start to see you as an authority (aka. an expert) in your niche.
This is invaluable because people trust experts, which in business, translates to more sales.
How To Get More Email Subscribers From Your Squarespace Website
Many business owners know they need to build an email list, but can’t seem to figure out why people aren’t subscribing.
Here are three ways to get more email subscribers:
1. Give people a reason to subscribe
Think about the last time you signed up to someone’s email list…
It probably wasn’t to simply ‘stay up to date’ with them.
Most often, you sign up when someone is offering something of value—this could be in the form of a discount, free guide, checklist, e-book, or another high-value offer.
The easiest way to get more email subscribers is to create a HVO (high-value offer) that is relevant to a problem they’re looking to solve.
Most e-commerce brands will offer 10% off your first purchase if you sign up to their newsletter, and whilst this is an effective way to grow your email list, it’s not as simple for service-based businesses to simply offer a discount.
Here are some ideas of HVO’s you could offer:
A free guide or report
A free checklist
A free e-book
A free mini course
Exclusive content
If you’re a restaurant, you could offer 2 of your most popular recipes or a voucher for $10 off your next order.
If you’re a builder, you could offer The First Home Builder’s Checklist.
The point is to make your HVO genuinely valuable and relevant to your audience and a specific problem/goal they’re looking to achieve.
2. Make your sign-up forms visible
Many businesses make the mistake of putting one sign-up form in their footer, then forgetting it exists and never talking about it again.
If you want more people to sign up, make sure your sign-up forms are visible! Put them on different pages of your website, link to them on your social media, and include a popup for new website visitors.
Pro Tip: Don’t worry about being “too pushy” with this. If your HVO is relevant enough to your audience, they’re going to be thanking you for putting it in front of them.
3. Tell people about your HVO!
The final way you get can more email subscribers is to actually tell people about your HVO! Nobody is going to sign up if they don’t know what you’re offering.
Talk about it in blog posts, on social media, on YouTube videos…even in your advertising. The more people that sign up for your HVO, the more opportunities you’ll have to put highly targeted offers in front of warm leads.
